Snorecast — Privacy Policy

Snorecast is an overnight snore & sleep audio recorder for iPhone. This policy explains, in plain language, what Snorecast does and does not do with your data. The short version: your recordings and sleep audio, and all snore analysis, happen entirely on your device. Your audio is stored on the device and is never uploaded to the developer or any server. The developer cannot hear your recordings. Snorecast has no backend of its own that receives your audio.

Not a medical device

Snorecast is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor sleep apnea or any other medical condition. It is for general informational and personal-interest purposes only. If you have any sleep or health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Your recordings stay on your device

You tap start at bedtime and Snorecast records through the night. On-device sound analysis detects snoring, and you wake to a morning report and trends over time. All of this happens entirely on your device:

Your recordings and sleep audio are captured and stored on your device. They are never uploaded to the developer or to any server.
Snore detection runs locally using Apple's on-device SoundAnalysis framework. Your audio is analyzed on the device and is not transmitted anywhere.
The developer cannot hear your recordings. There is no Snorecast server that receives, stores, or listens to your audio.
You manage your own recordings. Delete a night's recording in the app to remove it from your device.

Snorecast has no backend of its own that receives your audio, and no advertising SDK. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps or websites.

Your audio stays on device

This is the core promise of Snorecast. The audio you record while you sleep, and every result of the on-device snore analysis, is kept on your device. Snorecast's developer cannot access or hear your recordings. There is no separate Snorecast server that receives, stores, or processes your audio. Sound analysis runs on Apple's on-device SoundAnalysis framework, entirely on your device.

Analytics

Snorecast uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used (for example, that a night was recorded or that a report was viewed) so we can improve it. This is used only for aggregate product improvement. We never send Firebase your audio.

What it collects: anonymous, aggregate usage events (e.g. a night recorded, a report viewed — never your audio), plus a per-install identifier (Apple's Identifier for Vendors, IDFV) and an app-generated random UUID. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA), no ad personalization, and no cross-app or cross-website tracking. We never sell your data.
Not linked to your identity: analytics is not linked to your real-world identity. We do not provide Firebase with your name, email, or Apple ID.
Never your audio: your recordings and sleep audio are never sent to Firebase or anywhere else.
Opting out: you can opt out by disabling analytics sharing at the operating-system level or by deleting the app. The data is used only for aggregate product improvement.
Google's role: Firebase's data handling is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Data we do not collect

Snorecast does not collect: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, browsing or search history, health data, the contents of your recordings, or any advertising/tracking identifiers.

Children

Snorecast is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Permissions

Microphone (required): Snorecast needs microphone access to record while you sleep. It is requested when you start recording, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security. Without it, Snorecast cannot record or analyze your night.
Notifications (optional): if you choose to enable them, Snorecast can send soft, optional local bedtime reminders. These are entirely optional and can be turned off at any time in iOS Settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
